college magazine cover

Langauge-The main Masthead is located at the top of the the page this is because it is the first place the audience looks, therefore this draws the audience towards the anchorage, and futhermore reminds them of the magazine title. The skyline above the masthead is there to provide furthur information or advertising,The slogan within the skyline, on the front cover of the magaizne relate to the audience of the magaizne as the magazine appeals to students as it is a college magaizne, for example an 'exclusive guide' to 'everthing hip, hop and happening' is appealing to students and young people of the demogrphical age of 15-24, hip hop also reflects the audience as hip hop is steryotpically aimed at the demogrical ethencity of black brithish, this point is reinforced by the main image, which is a black male. Also this slogan within the skyline uses alleteration "Hip, Hop and Happening" this makes it more rememrabile and appealing to the audience. The left third of the magazine contains different stories and information that may attract different potential customers, this is very important to the magazine becasue customers want to know if they are going to read and enjoy most of the stories, and as the magazine is a college magazine it's purpose is to inform, educate and also entertain.
Ideology - The masthead and main storylines are yellow, the colour yellow has positive conotations as it represents sunshine which is percieved as happy, this point is reinforced by the main storyline, 'Dancehall's Bright Future' the word bright echos the colour yellow as it is also bright. The subject on the front cover is wearing a cross this symbolises relgion, this means that their is a strong diversity in this college magazine and aims to a broader audience.
Instutution - The institution of this mazagine is called 'COLLEGE', this institution is filling the student side of college magazines as this is appealing to the students who are at, or potentially going to a college, instead of non-appealing statistical college related magazines.
Audience - This magazine is aime at an audience that is going to interested in college matters, such as students, this means that the demographical age range this magazine will be aiming at is around 15 - 24.
Represention - On the front cover of this magazine the main image is a stereotypical hip, popular, modern african carribean which represents that college is cool, modern and is being viewed in the same way as in which the main image is. This represents the college in a positive way as this will attract an audience through the image that the main image is representing of the college. Although this representation is not very accurate as not all people will be able to have this image, a cool, modern person, some people may be under the influence that this college provides or attracts this certain look and doesn't take the other types of look into consideration.

The left third of the magazine is very important for the reader as the potential buyers of this magazine are going to look at the headings to see if they are going to be interested in reading the stories that are featured in the magazine. 
Ideology - The masthead of this magazine is red, this is a connotation for many things but in this case is could be percieved as 'love' this also links to the love heart that the main image (the women) is wearing on her red top, this may be symbolising that the college is loved and as she is wearing a red top this emphasises this point. The colour of the headings on this cover are blue as is the colour on the side of the barcode, the colour blue as a connotation may be seen as calm, fresh and sophisticated this would appeal to the target audience as their demographic age is 15 - 24 which is young and will be more attracted be a young fresh colour.

The colour scheme of this magazine emphasies this point of the college being young and attractive, as the colours scheme uses fresh colours such as blue and red. The fact that the main image has a top with a love heart on represents the college possitively as this shows that the students are loyal and aprechiate th college.
